Alcohol Addiction Recovery Group Bootle

Hello Bootle!

Welcome to What We Think — an alcohol recovery group serving the Bootle area.

We run weekly face-to-face meetings led by our experienced support team, complemented by ongoing out-of-meeting support from dedicated volunteers — all of whom have completed the programme and bring lived experience. Members also have access to an exclusive section of our website, packed with downloadable materials, videos, and guides.

We are committed to helping you, or a loved one, overcome addiction to alcohol. While every journey is unique, our 12-week programme has a strong track record of success — with the option to extend for a further 12 weeks if needed.

What sets our programme apart is our commitment to supporting the whole family. We recognise that those living with a loved one who is alcohol dependent face their own significant challenges.

Our monthly family support group provides a safe space to share experiences, develop coping strategies, and access practical tools to help navigate life alongside a loved one in recovery.

OUR PROGRAMME

Our alcohol recovery programme covers Bootle and the wider area. We support people with small weekly face-to-face groups and additional support via our team of volunteers over 12 weeks, with an optional further 12 weeks if you need it.

Created by those with lived experience

We work towards successful alcohol addiction recovery, providing safe, practical, and person-centred support to individuals and families who need stability, clarity, and a way forward in the Bootle area.

Our work is informed by both professional practice and lived experience of alcohol addiction recovery. We understand that poor mental health and alcohol addiction are often deeply connected.

Rather than treating people in isolation or through a single lens, we take a whole-person, trauma-informed approach, recognising emotional safety, personal dignity, and long-term recovery as essential foundations for change.

We support people to:

Regain control and personal safety

Rebuild confidence and self-worth

Develop healthier coping strategies

Break cycles of harm, dependency, and crisis

What We Think Values

Our services are delivered with professionalism, discretion, and respect. We work alongside individuals, families, and professionals to ensure support is ethical, collaborative, and focused on sustainable outcomes.
